Wind damage in Des Moines, Iowa

Remember That Time When...?

Here are a few of our favorite flashbacks that highlight our culture of customer care.

A Whirlwind Tour

Morley was in the middle of conducting a Fortune 500 client's 100th anniversary mobile experience when disaster struck in Des Moines, Iowa. At 5:30 a.m., plant security called the Morley on-site tour manager to advise that a tornado had struck during the night and the traveling exhibit was directly in its path! A 40' hexagon tent structure and a 20' x 20' connecting tent structure were both completely demolished. In addition, two more of the 40' hexagons and two more of the 20' x 20' connectors appeared to have sustained significant damage, but were still standing. Not exactly the wake-up call that he had put in for the night before.

Damaged Kiosks

The Morley tour manager rushed to the site and reported back to the headquarters team the substantial damage to dozens of kiosks and historical corporate artifacts. He immediately began sending digital images, enabling those at Morley headquarters to help with damage assessments.

The Morley Exhibits, Displays & Experiences team immediately began developing new structures, replacement graphics and kiosk fabrication that morning. Two days later, after 200+ man-hours of internal labor, a Morley truck and fabrication crew was dispatched to Minneapolis, the site of the next planned event, which was scheduled in just five days.

Once in Minneapolis, Morley's Des Moines and Saginaw (headquarters) crews worked hand in hand to get the show back up and running in time for the next event. The "whirlwind" tour was operational just in time for the launch at the new venue.

The client was in disbelief, expressing astonishment and countless accolades that Morley was able to salvage elements, rebuild damaged displays and structures, and be ready for employees and local dignitaries to tour the exhibit on schedule in Minneapolis after such a devastating loss.

The tour went on to successfully exhibit for 12 months in 36 locations throughout Canada, the United States
and Mexico.
